What types of shotguns and ammunition do you allow?
Sosalla Solew has implemented new regulations for the continued safety of our guests, employees, and dogs. Please see the following regulations below:

1. No semi-automatics are allowed in the quail field. (exceptions apply to dove and pheasant tower shoots.) If unsure, please call.
2. Break action guns ONLY!
3. 12g shotguns are no longer allowed for quail hunting.

What other gun information do we need to know or instruction do you offer?
1. Only two shooters are allowed on the ground at one time
2. No shooters are allowed under the age of 12.
3. All hunters must have completed a certified hunter safety course.
4. Guns must be carried in an open position when not on point.
5. The muzzle must be pointed in the air while in use.
6. We require all of our guests to watch a safety video prior to their first hunt.

Do you rent shotguns or sell ammunition?
Guests may bring their own ammunition and shotgun or use one of the rentals. Please check before for availibility.
Do I need a hunting license from the state of Florida to hunt at Sosalla Solew?
Yes, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission requires all of our guests to purchase a license directly from the State of Florida. Please visit gooutdoorsflorida.com to purchase a hunting license,
Is there a limit on how many birds I can shoot?
There is no limit to the number of birds you can shoot.
During what months are you open for guests?
Our quail hunting season begins in Mid-November and extends through March. Dove season dates vary and typically start in September and turkey season is in April. We offer fishing year-round.
What kinds of dogs will accompany me on the hunt?
We have English Pointers, German shorthair pointers, English Cocker Spaniels, and others.
What is the hunter/guide ratio?
There is a maximum of 8 hunters per Jeep, but we recommend 4 to a jeep, rotating in groups of 2 with the guide.
Do you have a quail hunting tipping policy?
Average guide tips are around $75 per hunter per hunt.
What should I wear on the hunt?
For your comfort and safety, we recommend wearing briar pants or briar chaps, a blaze orange shooting, and broken-in boots.
LODGING / ARRIVAL / DEPARTURE
When is arrival/departure for a quail hunt?
Typical arrival time for a quail hunt is 8:15am. Breakfast will be served at 8:30am, with a hunt start time around 9:15am. Typical departure time is around 4:00pm, with field return typically around 3:30pm.
What if I am staying overnight at Sosalla Solew?
Overnight guests will have individual accommodations and should be discussed before the trip with each guest.

The closest public airport is in Tallahassee, Florida and then Panama City, Florida and the closest private airport is Quincy, FL.
